From 4 April 2011 recycling at home is compulsory in Islington. To find out more information, please visit our Compulsory Recycling page.
If you live in a street property, garden waste is collected from your doorstep.
To recycle your garden waste, place it in your garden waste bag, a reusable sack or an open bin liner so that it is easy to see that it contains garden waste. Place it out with the rest of your recycling and rubbish on your collection day. You can find out your recycling day by clicking the Find My Nearest link on the right. Garden waste can also be taken to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.
You can also recycle your Christmas tree this January. If you live in a street property you can simply leave your Christmas tree at the edge of your property along with your normal green waste from Monday 2nd January 2012. If you live on an estate, please contact your Area Housing Office for more information on how to recycle your Christmas tree. There will also be four sites in Islington parks for you to bring your Christmas tree to between Tuesday 3rd January and Monday 16th January:
• King’s Square
• Rosemary Gardens
• Elthorne Park
• Barnard Park.
The trees should only be left in the sign posted and enclosed tree collection areas and please remove all tree decorations.
The Household Reuse and Recycling Centre, Hornsey Street will also accept green waste and Christmas trees all year round.
Trees that appear after the Christmas tree period will be collected by the refuse/recycling crews on normal collection days.

You can recycle more than you may think. To find out what we can recycle, have a look at the list below or watch our new recycling video by clicking on the following link:
