Islington Council has teamed up with HomeStore to give unwanted furniture a new lease of life. HomeStore is a charity which collects unwanted furniture from properties in the borough and elsewhere in northeast London for reuse. They work to help low-income households gain access to affordable furniture.
To be suitable for collection, your furniture needs to be:
in good condition - not dismantled, flat packed or dirty, with a fire label if it is a bed, a sofa or other soft furnishing
removable by two people without too much difficulty - please take into account both its size and weight
located on the ground floor, first floor, lower ground floor or removable using a lift - due to health and safety, collection teams are not permitted to move items up or down more than one floor
Please note that we do not collect electrical items. For more information on what is acceptable, please open the Homestore Furniture Requirements document below.
The easiest way to book a furniture reuse collection is through My eAccount. Just visit www.islington.gov.uk/myeaccount for more information.
