Local Development Framework

Islington is preparing a number of documents that will form Islington’s Local Development Framework (LDF) the list of documents and timetable for preparing them are shown in the Local Development Scheme (see below). The Core Strategy is the most important document in the LDF and is currently being prepared (see Core Strategy link for further information). The Council will soon be preparing its Development Management Policy document and Site Allocations document (see links to these for more information).

More detailed advice on planning policy is provided in Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD), the council has already adopted SPDs on the Nags Head Town Centre Strategy, Archway, Kings Cross and Urban Design. The council is preparing SPDs on Accessible Housing and Planning Obligations and will be consulted on in September and October 2008. Information on all these documents can be viewed by clicking the relevant link on the menu to the left.

Local Development Scheme

The starting point in the new system is to prepare a Local Development Scheme (LDS). This LDS sets out how Islington intends to prepare its Local Development Framework. Click on the link below under Downloadable Documents to view the Local Development Scheme published in November 2007.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The council adopted the Statement of Community Involvement on 20 July 2006.

Any person aggrieved by the Statement of Community Involvement may apply to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of the decision to adopt the statement.

Any application must be made promptly and in any event not later than three months after the day on which the statement was adopted.

The adopted Statement of Community Involvement is available to view at local libraries and at the Municipal Offices (222 Upper Street, London N1 - open between 8am and 5pm).
