Introduction
Islington is uniquely placed at the moment with regard to investment in rail infrastructure. No other borough has such a range of planned or potential railway projects within its boundaries. These projects offer the ability to improve local, regional, national and international transport links to the borough. There are also potential improvements in accessibility, economic growth and land values and possibilities of reducing road traffic and improving quality of life.
However, they also offer potential disturbance both during construction and operation. It is therefore important to ensure strategic and local benefits whilst minimising any adverse impacts.
Here is an outline of each project with timescales, details of works within Islington, powers, and contact points for further information.
