Building Control service is for use by:
Building Control service deals with all kinds of building matters, from a major city development to an extension on a house. It aims to ensure that the built environment conforms to national building regulations and related legislation.
Building Control operates a Quality Management System and has Investors In People accreditations for its commitment to staff and Chartermark award.
We provide the following:
Technical expertise - our team of surveyors have wide technical expertise in all aspects of building control.
Qualified Staff - we have highly experienced staff holding professional qualifications in building control, structural engineering, fire safety, surveying, mechanical and electrical work and licensing.
Advice on Building Regulations - we give advice on how to meet the building regulations and get the necessary approvals.
Development Team Approach - for larger projects, we can assist you in providing a comprehensive development team approach with all the relevant agencies of the council. This includes ourselves, regeneration, planning, environmental health and highways engineers.
Performance Standards - we have set targets and performance standards for all aspects of our business, to ensure that we provide a high quality and consistent service. These are nationally recognised levels of service.
Customer Friendly Service - we aim to assist you with a first-rate customer friendly service, which will make it easy for you to achieve compliance with legislation and national standards of construction.
Customer Satisfaction - we strive to improve our service by carrying out regular customer surveys to assess our performance, and act on findings to improve our service.
Impartial and Accountable - we ensure that buildings comply with relevant legal requirements for health and safety, to provide a safe and secure environment.
Quick, Flexible and Secure Service - our quick building notice procedure gives flexibility, and our full plans procedure gives security.
Answerphone Service - we have a 24-hour answerphone.
Pre-application Meetings - we encourage pre-application meetings to help you early in the design process.
Duty Officer - our duty surveyor is available throughout the day, including lunchtimes.
Access Advice - we liaise with our access officer and provide advice on disabled access to the community.
Consumer Advice - we give consumer advice on building issues relating to your application.
LABC - through our association with Local Authority Building Control (LABC), we are able to offer a number of schemes to help our customers through the building control process, for example partnership schemes, national type approval and warranties.
Partner Authority Scheme - this provides for a company to partner with a local authority of its own choice for all aspects of design - plans examination, pre-application advice, all consultations i.e. fire service. Site inspections will be carried out by the local authority in whose area the project is to be built, in close liaison with the partner authority.
LANTAC National Type Approval - we offer a national type approval to builders, which saves time and money, with registered designs that can be used nation-wide. Accepted by local authorities throughout England and Wales.
Warranties and Insurance - sometimes things go wrong, perhaps your builder stops trading or the work is not to the standard you expected. In these cases it can be reassuring to have insurance cover to fall back on.
