Renewing Temporary Planning Permission

Occasionally we will grant planning permission for a temporary period of time. This usually happens because the structures that you proposed to build are of a temporary nature and we need to be able to have them removed when they are no longer required. We may also grant temporary planning permission when we are unsure about the impact of a use of land and wish to review the decision at a later date. At the end of the temporary period you may wish to extend the use either for another temporary period or permanently.

This type of application does not always require the submission of full plans if those submitted previously can be reused. However, a location plan must be submitted. You also need to specify the reference and date of the permission being renewed. You must also complete the rest of the form and if any other development is proposed you must provide the necessary information and plans as for a normal planning application.

Applying for Relief from Conditions Imposed with a Previous Planning Application

Occasionally, planning permission is granted subject to conditions which restrict the use of the land, forbid further development or limit the consent to a named individual or organisation. This usually happens because a proposed development is 'borderline' in terms of acceptability. In these cases tight restrictions may be appropriate to avoid problems developing on the site.

Conditions may also be imposed where a proposal is allowed in order to meet a very specific social need and where consent is given in breach of our normal planning policies. As time passes such restrictions may be considered by the applicant to be no longer necessary, and an application can be made to remove the condition. This type of application does not always require the submission of full plans if those submitted previously can be reused. However, you must submit a location plan.
