People can be bothered by many types of noise. The main noises that cause problems are loud music, burglar alarms, car alarms, fans and motors, barking dogs, DIY and noise from construction sites.
The first thing you can do is speak to whoever is causing the noise. They may not be aware that they are causing a problem and may subsequently reduce their noise levels.
If the noise is ongoing (for example over two or three weeks) you should keep a diary to make a record of when the noise occurs and then pass this on to the noise team. You can download our Bothered by Noise leaflet at the bottom of the page and a noise record diary to help you accurately keep track of troubling noise. You can fill in a noise diary online by clicking the link on the right.
If talking to the person concerned does not help, or you feel that you are unable to approach them, you can contact us and we will investigate your complaint.
If the noise nuisance happens at night you can call us at Noise Patrol on 020 7527 3229.
If you live in a council property you should contact your Estate Manager who will discuss the noise problem with you first and then refer it to us if appropriate.
If you live in a private property call us at the Noise Service on 020 7527 3258.
