Procurement and Economy

Green Procurement, or taking the environment into account whenever you need to buy something, can be a very important way of taking action to benefit the environment. What may seem like a small change, such as buying recycled paper or energy efficient fridges, all helps the environment.

The council recently adopted a green procurement code to guide our purchasing. The code is also useful to anyone intending to tender for council contracts or for local businesses who need help on how to make their buying practice greener.

For more information, click on the Green Procurement document at the bottom of this page.

N.B: The Green Procurement code needs to be read alongside the council's procurement code. For full details of this, click the link under Related Information on the right side of this page.
