Green Summer Events for Families 2008

We've organised some great green events to help promote understanding of environmental issues.

Recycling Drop-in

First Wednesday of every month

Is your bin bursting with rubbish? Do you have a question about recycling but afraid to ask?

Visit the Green Living Centre on the first Wednesday of every month to speak to one of the council’s Recycling Officers. They will be able to give you advice of how to reduce rubbish at home and can answer all your questions on recycling.

Household Reuse and Recycling Centre and i-recycle Centre Open Day

Lets Get Growing...From Field to Fork

Has your food had a good life? This session looks at the journey your food makes to reach your plate and what this means for the planet. Grow your own with cress head making and tomato plant planting! Suitable for children 5-11 and their parents/guardians.

Frequent Fliers

Birds come in many shapes, sizes and colours. Using binoculars, games and sound we will learn how to tell a Robin from a Sparrow and discover which early bird really catches the worm. Suitable for children 5-11 and their parents/guardians

Water Load of Fun

Messy Masterpieces

Get creative at our reclaimed art workshop. Decorate your own designer bag, take part in glass painting, make a great eco fridge magnet and more. Suitable for children 5-11 and their parents/guardians.

Farm Pick 'n' Mix

Freightliners Farm, Sheringham Road, London N7 8PF

Visit Freightliners farm to discover where your food comes from.  See the animals that make our food and explore the garden to find tasty treats. Pick salad leaves, collect some eggs and grab a pot of farm honey mix it all up to make a fantastic salad to eat. Find out what organic and intensive farming  means.
