We appreciate that our members are all volunteers and share the common goal of making Islington a cleaner and safer place to live and work. In return we offer a variety of training days and events.
Once you have signed up to the scheme, we will provide you with an Eyes welcome pack which includes your unique ID number which you should quote when reporting a problem. This helps us to log the fault you have reported.
Your pack also includes freepost reporting cards if you feel you don’t want to report over the phone.
Each year we offer our members a number of training workshops to help you understand street and environmental issues. The workshops are also an opportunity for the council to listen to your concerns, and provide you with progress reports on the issues you have reported.
Every member receives an invitation to the training days, and the sessions are optional. They are a great way of meeting fellow Eyes members and council staff.
If you would like to see the types of topics we cover at our training days, please click on the link below to download a training pack.
We have recently introduced educational trips for our members as part of our programme of events. This helps members to understand the process of how the council responds to issues and concerns that are reported.
Members who attended the pilot events at the i-recycle centre and the Ecology Centre last year gave us positive feedback and there was a huge demand for more trips.
Download the document at the bottom of this page: Eyes for Islington - Events 2009 to see what trips we will be organising this year.
The Eyes magazine is produced four times a year and sent to all Eyes members.
For more information or to download current or past issues, please click on the link on the left hand side of this page.
We want to give our members the opportunity to have their say on street management issues. If we are considering any changes in policy or services we will approach members to use as a sounding board for feedback. This then helps us with decision making.
Every December we hold an event to celebrate the achievements throughout the year, and reward the most active, contributing member with our ‘Eyes of the Year’ award.
This event has been held at the Jury’s Inn Hotel on Pentonville Road for the past three years, and has been host to 120 guests.
For more information about any of these events, please contact Fatma Mehmet on 020 7527 2334 or email fatma.mehmet@islington.gov.uk
