Islington Council is determined to give all children the best possible start in life, so we are looking at some options for improving schools and building more housing in the EC1 area.
In October 2010, the council began discussions with parents, children, governors and staff at Moreland Primary School and St Luke’s CE Primary School on the possibility of building a new and bigger St Luke’s School with children’s centre provision on the Moreland School site.
We have considered all the responses we have received since then, which have included support for the proposal, as well as some concerns, with parents and governors putting forward other suggestions.
As a result of the responses, the council is considering, and would welcome views on, four options. To find out more about these, please click on the link below.
This year is going to be a really exciting one for young people in Islington, as we're developing a network of 'youth hubs', offering free and affordable activities and support services.
There will be two large hubs – the performing arts hub on Hornsey Road in the north of the borough, and a healthy living hub which will be on White Lion Street, near Angel. For more information on the hubs, click on the link below.
