The disability inclusion unit offers advice and support for children and young people with special needs and disabilities who would like to access play and youth provision in the borough.
As well as having access to all of the boroughs playcentres, youth clubs and adventure playgrounds, the unit runs specialist centres at The Bridge and Richard Cloudesley Schools. During holiday times there is also a specialist mobile project called ‘All Kids’ for young people with ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome and dyslexia.
Janice Gander and her experienced team of support playworkers work along side their colleagues at the mainstream play and youth sites to offer the very best in support for the young person.
To assess the individual needs and requirements of the young person, Janice will make a home visit, then in consultation with the young person and their family find them a place that provides the best provision to meet their needs.
