Firm foundations for Islington’s Schools
Building works that will transform education across Islington are moving ahead at a fast pace, following achievement of financial close on the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme on 8 July 2008.
Islington Council has signed contracts with Transform Islington Ltd to go ahead with improvement works on schools in phase one of the BSF programme. Transform Islington Ltd will also be responsible for carrying out work on all the other secondary schools in the borough. Each will be substantially refurbished or completely rebuilt in order to provide first class learning environments and teaching facilities.

All of Islington’s secondary schools are being refurbished or rebuilt over the next five years with over £140 million funding from Building Schools for the Future.
The programme creates an important opportunity to transform the way that secondary schools function, developing buildings for the twenty-first century, with teaching and learning to match.
