All Islington libraries offer free internet access, allowing you to get online for research, to email friends or family, to look for a job, to shop online, or simply for fun. With libraries being open outside office hours and at weekends, you can access the web at your convenience and for free. There are also online courses to help you get the most from computer programs and internet access. Please click on the Acceptable Use Policy link at the bottom of this page under Downloadable Documents for more details on using our electronic resources.
If you are a first time web-surfer and are not sure what to do, library staff will set you up on the PC and help you if you get stuck.

The Rough Guide to Online Safety was published late in 2011. Designed for those seeking to bolster their knowledge of online security, and users in need of a hard-copy reference on digital safety, the guide provides security definitions as well as a view into the mind of an online criminal. It provides a snapshot on digital security and smart surfing for every scenario, from social networks to small business security to mobile phone usage. download a copy from: www.getsafeonline.org
If you require more learning support to develop your computer skills, we have two learning centres based at libraries in the borough. These are the First Steps Learning Centre at the Central Library, and the Islington Computer Skills Centre at the Finsbury Library.
The learning centres allow you to learn at a pace that suits you, while a member of staff is always on hand to help if needed.
To see details of these learning centres, including opening times, directions and facilities available, click the link on the right under Related Information. Also there you can get details of other learning centres in the borough by clicking on the link to Adult and Community Learning.
