Finding a Childminder

Childminders offer flexible care, either full or part-time. They are self-employed and provide care in their own homes. Childminders must register with OfSTED (the Office for Standards in Education), whose inspectors make regular checks on them and their home to ensure the children are safe. Childminders may look after up to six children under 8 years old, but only three may be under 5 years old and usually only one under 1 year old.
