Parents' Information

Islington Children's Information Service (CIS) has produced an information leaflet all about Parenting. The leaflet contains information about lots of parenting support available in the Islington borough. This includes:

• services in Islington offering support to all parents
• specialist services for parents of children with special needs
• 'Skills for Life' courses
• national helplines, websites and other sources of information and support
• parenting courses delivered in Islington
• information for people who work with parents
  
  

 

The CIS has also produced a list of useful organisations with contact phone numbers.

This list includes advice services on:

• family support
• counselling
• ethnic minority groups
• housing
• work and training
• some health-related matters

Parentline Plus

Parentline Plus is a national charity that works for and with parents.

It is currently running a campaign called Just Ask. The campaign wants to reassure parents that asking for support is not a sign of failing as a parent but rather a sign of strength, demonstrating that they want to do their best for their children.

The campaign is also aims to encourage those who are working with families to involve and work with parents, acknowledging that bringing up children is a parent's most important role.
