Child Tax Credit helps most households with at least one dependent child. It is paid at a higher rate for households with at least one baby under 12 months.
To get help through tax credits in paying a close relation for childcare, the relation must register as a childminder and be willing to look after other children as part of the childminding business.
Tax credits are means tested and they are aimed at low- and middle-income households.
