Childcare Affordability Programme (CAP)
The Childcare Affordability Programme is a London-only scheme designed to
improve the affordability of childcare, by subsidising childcare places for
lower-income families and parents either starting work or training to work.
The scheme is funded by the London Development Agency and Sure Start.
Phase 2 of the scheme is available in Islington nurseries until December 2008,
in order to:

make childcare in London more affordable for parents who are starting work or
training to work;

enable parents on lower incomes to remain in or return to full or part-time
work;

provide parents with greater access, choice, flexibility and quality childcare
provision.
