About our courses

Each year thousands of adults and families attend free courses across Islington. Learning with us gives you a chance to study near home in a relaxed, friendly environment.

We run many practical courses, including

  • learning English as a second language (ESOL)
  • everyday English and maths
  • computer skills
  • supporting children’s learning
  • skills for employment and help to find work
  • and many more!

Courses can help you improve your own skills in computers, English and maths, help your child with their homework, gain confidence, prepare for a college course or get a new job.

Who are our courses for?

Our courses are for Islington residents or parents with children in Islington schools. You must be 19 or over, unemployed or low waged, or receiving Job seeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit or Incapacity Benefit.

Learner profile - Lopez Bennett

"When I first dropped in to my local learning centre I couldn't use a computer and needed help with my maths and English. I've taken a few courses to brush up on those skills and now feel much more confident. The tutors have been so encouraging and helped me take learning at my own pace. I'm now studying towards a qualification in Health and Social Care at college and want to get a job working with the elderly."

Learner profile - Jeremias Quezada

“I’d like to train for a career in construction, but colleges expect good levels of writing and computer skills, which I have struggled with in the past. I’ve been learning here since February. The tutors are really friendly and patient and the courses are practical. My writing and typing have improved so much since I first signed up. I feel much more prepared for my future.”
