Islington Adult and Community Learning Service works in partnership with the voluntary and community sector to provide a network of neighbourhood learning centres across the borough. We offer a range of courses for disadvantaged and vulnerable Islington residents. Courses are free and are aimed primarily at adults of working age who are not in paid employment or are on low wages, and who would like to improve their skills and life chances.

Our mission is to aim to:

  • Widen participation in learning
  • Support learners to develop essential skills that will enable them to achieve and progress
  • provide high quality community based learning in welcoming and accessible environments

Courses offered include:

  • basic ICT (computers)
  • literacy and numeracy
  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
  • Personal Development
  • creative courses

Learners can also take qualifications in all subject areas.

Each centre is installed with computers, interactive whiteboards, printers and broadband internet. The centres are connected via a network, which allows users to move between the sites to continue their learning.
