Single Person Discount

If you are the only person aged over 18 living in a property, you will be entitled to the single person reduction. This is 25% of your total council tax bill.

You are required to inform the council of any change in your circumstances, such as if you move to a new dwelling or if the number of occupiers changes. For information about what to do if your circumstances change, see the Payment Problems page.

A single person's discount will be limited to the current year and not backdated without evidence. The claimant may be liable for prosecution if he/she provides false information.

To apply for the above you will also need to supply supporting documentary evidence. Documents can be attached to an email and sent to council.tax@islington.gov.uk or you can post to:
