There are seven department within Housing and Adult Social Services:

Housing

The Housing department provides the following services:

Housing Needs and Strategy – aiming to meet the housing needs of the people of Islington by:

  • developing and implementing an effective housing strategy
  • preventing homelessness where ever possible
  • ensuring that the impact of unavoidable homelessness is minimised
  • maximising choice in where people live
  • ensuring housing conditions in the private sector are improved

Special Projects – responsible for the identification and delivery of new initiatives concerned with maintaining the long-term future of the housing stock.

Adult Social Services

Adult Social Services provides a huge variety of community care services and support for:

  • older people
  • disabled people and their families
  • people with health problems
  • people who are returning home after a stay in hospital
  • HIV and AIDS

Adult Social services help people with mental health problems to live independently or in residential care. The community care centres provide a range of services to vulnerable adult residents of the borough so that they can live independently.
