Islington families can get a free green energy check-up for their homes.
Two specially trained “Energy Doctors” are doing the rounds, to help residents reduce bills and CO2 emissions.
The experts help to install simple energy saving gadgets such as draught excluders, modern low energy light bulbs and reflective radiator panels.
Cllr Greg Foxsmith, Islington Council’s Executive Member for Environment, said: “A few simple steps to save energy can help your wallet and the environment.”
The council is dishing out advice on staying efficient once the new measures have been put in place, such as turning down thermostats. Guidance is also on hand about composting and recycling.
Islington Strategic Partnership is the main funder. Others include Newlon Housing Association and Homes for Islington, in partnership with Islington Council, and Ebico – the UK’s only not-for-profit energy supplier – as part of Ebico’s national Green Doctor programme.
