Islington's 10,000 businesses are being offered a helping hand and fresh opportunities in Enterprise Week.
A host of free events including speed-networking, a mayor's reception for new businesses and a small-business seminar are taking place between November 16-20.
Teams of young entrepreneurs from Islington schools are also being given a taste of business with up to £100 "seed funding" for their money-making ideas.
Enterprise Week 2009 has been organised by Islington Council with Islington Chamber of Commerce, ACBBA, City University, Finfuture, Finsbury Park Business Future and Prevista.
Cllr Lucy Watt, Islington Council's deputy leader, said: "Islington is home to more than 10,000 businesses and we want to help them as much as we can.
"Enterprise Week offers free events that will help all local businesses to adapt, grow and flourish - whether they're new start-ups or household names."
"I'm very grateful to the local businesses who are helping with our Islington Enterprise Challenge, which is teaching the next generation how to do business."
