A little help from Islington council officers reunited a missing parrot with her owners less than 24 hours after she went missing.
The African Grey bird was seen by a resident perched on a dining chair in a garden in Evershot Road, Finsbury Park, at about 8am on Friday August 21.
After the resident alerted a council worker who was in the area, the council's Animal Welfare Officer was called in to pick up the bird.
The bird was found temporary care with a local bird expert, and several hours later was handed back to her owner, who was put in touch with the council by the RSPCA.
Cllr Greg Foxsmith, Islington Council's Executive Member for Environment, said: "Our Animal Welfare team does a lot of unsung work caring for lost and stray animals around Islington, but this is the first parrot they've dealt with.
"I'm glad everyone worked together and this had a happy ending - the bird sadly wouldn't have survived long on its own."
The parrot, named Rosie, had become lost while her owner was moving house in a nearby street.
Islington Council's Animal Welfare Service can give help or advice about the care of animals.
The service also investigates complaints about stray dogs, dangerous dogs and animal cruelty.
