Vintage clothing is set to bring bring a whole new look to Archway when a new fashion fair sets up stall.
The Vintage...And More Fashion Fair will offer clothing, accessories and textiles from the 1800s-1980s, customised one-off designs made from vintage and modern fabrics and a selection of vintage men's and children's wear.
Its organisers, who run an established fair in Primrose Hill, agreed to come to Archway after being approached by Archway town centre manager Anna Woodward.
The first two fairs are being held on Sunday September 27 and Sunday November 29, with more dates booked for next year.
Marilyn Tye, of Vintage Fashion London, said: "When the Town Centre Manager contacted me about coming to Archway it was perfect timing, as I was looking for a new venue in north London.
"The area has great transport links and a buzzy feel and we're looking forward to bringing some vintage sparkle to Islington residents."
Cllr Lucy Watt, executive member for communities, skills and business, said: "This is great news for Islington and Archway - it really does bring something new and exciting for shoppers and browsers alike.
"I'm very pleased our town centre manager was able to arrange this, in direct response to residents' comments.
"I'd invite anyone with an interest in clothing or fashion to come along and see what they think."
When residents were asked in last year's Archway Town Centre Survey what shops and services they'd like to see in the area, the top answer given (by 31% of respondents) was clothing.
The fairs are being held at The Byam Shaw School of Art in Elthorne Road, five minutes walk from Archway tube, from 11am-5pm. Entrance is £3, or £2 for students.
