European Parliamentary Elections - 4 June 2009

Date: 29-May-09 by Charles Dean

Across Islington, 89 Polling Stations are being prepared for Thursday's 2009 European Parliamentary Elections.

140,000 Islington residents are entitled to vote with ballots counting towards the London Region which will elect eight Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

Islington Council has been encouraging residents to get registered to vote and to use their ballot to have their say.

Schools, community centres and church halls will be transformed into Polling Stations, open from 7am to 10pm.

You do not need your poll card to vote as long as you are registered.

Ballot verification and counting will take place between 5 and 7 June and the results declared by Regional Returning Officer Barry Quirk at 9pm on Sunday.

Islington Council will publish the results on its website on Monday 8 June.

For more information or to find your nearest polling station, call Islington Electoral Services on 020 7527 3110 or visit: www.islington.gov.uk/voting
