Residents across Islington are charging down to their local libraries to use the borough’s battery recycling facilities.
Nine deposit points have been set up for 1.5 volt to 9 volt batteries.
Sang Yem Park, from N7, said: “This is a really bright idea. I always recycle and it’s great that now all I have to do is bring my batteries to the local library.”
Cllr Greg Foxsmith, Islington Council’s Executive Member for Environment, said: “There’s a clear demand for more battery recycling points in Islington so we’re making these new facilities as convenient as possible. We need to act, because batteries are one of the most damaging things that can end up in landfill.”
