Columbia flower market helps make Islington bloom

Date: 15-Jul-08 by Chris Roe

TRADERS from London's legendary Columbia flower market will help make Islington bloom when they set up in Nags Head next month.
Stallholders from the market - which attracts thousands of customers every Sunday to its home in East London - are coming to the borough for three days.
Their flower-packed stalls will be up and running on Holloway Road between Seven Sisters Road and Loraine Road from 10am-3pm on 6-8 August in a special arrangement organised by Nags Head town centre manager Joyce Pollaya.
Cllr Lucy Watt, Executive Member for Communities, Skills and Business, said: "This is a real coup for Islington and the Nags Head - everyone knows the Columbia flower market.
"I'm really excited that our Town Centre Manager, Joyce Pollaya, has pulled this off. We invested in a Town Centre Manager for Nags Head as we know that Nags Head is a great place, but there is so much more we can do with it, and now we are seeing the evidence of that!
"I hope lots of local people get the chance to go along, have a look and buy some flowers - if it's successful for stallholders this could become a regular feature."
