Vote now for your Islington Market Trader of the Year

THE unsung heroes of Islington's markets are being recognised in a new vote to find the borough's Market Trader of the Year.<br>Islington Council, which licenses markets including Chapel, Exmouth, Whitecross Street and Archway, has launched the competition, the first of its kind ever in the borough.<br>Greengrocers, fishmongers, florists, hardware sellers, food merchants and many other council-licensed traders are in the running to win the title.<br>All they need is your vote - which can be submitted by email or post and could win the lucky voter a £25 voucher to spend at their favourite stall.<br>Cllr Lucy Watt, Islington Council's Executive Member for Communities, Skills and Business, said: "Islington's markets are greatly loved and used by thousands every week from all walks of life.<br>"Everyone's got a favourite market, and most of us have a favourite market trader too.<br>"This is your chance to make sure they get the credit they deserve - so please send in your votes now."<br>The three traders with the most votes will be judged on other factors like customer service and quality of goods, with an overall winner selected.<br>That winner will receive £300 worth of free trading , a banner announcing their victory, and the honour of being Islington's first Market Trader of the Year.<br>Votes can be made by emailing street.trading@islington.gov.uk or calling on 020 7527 3830.<br>Alternatively send in a nomination form (ask your trader for details), or write to Islington Council at Freepost RRLU-SEAE-HELS, London Borough of Islington, Public Protection Division, N1 1XR.<br>All votes will go into a free prize draw for the £25 voucher.<br>Nominations can be made between 1 July and 15 August. Voters can choose any of Islington's 200 council-licensed traders.<br>
