Body-popping to power boating. It's an eventful Easter in Islington

Date: 29-Feb-08 by Caroline Horrocks

With the Easter holidays soon upon us, Islington Council's Summer University Plus has come up with a free programme of exciting events for young people to get involved in.

For those with lots of energy to use up, there's plenty of opportunity for physical activity, with dance classes (including body-popping and breakdancing), self defence, power boating and the chance to race around a go-karting track all on offer. Or, for Arsenal fans, the 'Arsenal ICT double club' might appeal. Using recent match highlights, the five-day course improves football, literacy and ICT skills and is held at the Emirates Stadium complex.

Traditional and flash animation courses are also available, giving young people the chance to make and edit their own animated films. Or the musically-minded can learn to mix and produce music in a studio, ending up with a copy of their own CD.

This is the second year running that Islington Council's Summer University Plus has organised the Easter Activities programme and places are expected to run out quickly. The courses are aimed at 10 to 15 year-olds and will be held at locations across the borough. Courses range in length from one day to a full week between 7-18 April.

For more information and to book a place, visit www.summerunilondon.org/islington. If you don't have Internet access please call the Summer University Plus hotline on 020 7527 5641 for advice on how to register.
