Islington Council makes a stand on cycle theft

New cycle racks are being installed outside Tube and rail stations across Islington. <br><br>It follows requests from commuters across the borough who come to work by train – and want to switch to a bicycle for the last part of their journey. <br><br>The racks are designed to deter thieves – and even display information on how to lock up a bicycle in the most effective way. <br><br>Councillor Lucy Watt, Islington Council's Executive Member for Environment, said: ""The Council is installing a thousand new bicycle stands across Islington, to make life easier for cyclists. <br><br>"Riders told us that more bike parking at Tube stations is high on their wish list and we have listened. <br><br>"If people have further suggestions for locations for bike parking, please let me know."<br><br>ENDS <br><br>For more information please call Chris Weeks on 020 7527 3032 <br>
