Hundreds of residents have already signed up to Islington's "Climate Change Challenge", with a pledge to adopt a greener lifestyle. <br><br>Together, they're set to save up to 200 tonnes of carbon emissions over the coming year – that's more than the weight of a Boeing 747. <br><br>And even more residents have the chance to take up the challenge this month. <br><br>Wendy Baverstock, from Manor Gardens, N7, is among those taking part. <br><br>She said: "Turning down the thermostat and changing a few light bulbs around the house is no hassle – and it makes a huge impact on our environment.<br><br>"Cycling around Islington is actually faster than the car, and it's great exercise too. <br><br>"I'm glad to be starting the New Year on the right foot, and playing my part in tackling climate change – as well as saving money." <br><br>Cllr Lucy Watt, Islington Council's Executive Member for Environment, said: "People in Islington have told us that they want us to do more to tackle climate change, and we've listened. <br><br>"The council has signed a pledge to reduce our own carbon emissions, and we've encouraged other organisations across Islington to do the same. <br><br>"Now we're giving individual residents the chance to join in and pledge to reduce their own carbon emissions, and save money on energy bills. <br><br>"It is easy to join.
