Islington Council's gritting teams have already taken to the roads, ahead of tomorrow's cold snap.
Four specialist lorries began treating the streets this afternoon (Wednesday) – and will return to the roads tomorrow at 5.30am.
Hundreds of gritting boxes are also available to the public outside many schools and doctors' surgeries across the borough.
Lucy Watt, Islington Council's Executive Member for Environment, said: "Keeping people safe in the cold weather is a top priority for the council, so we're always well prepared.
"We've also provided 350 grit boxes across the borough which people can access if they need to.
"Of course, we're still urging all road users, and pedestrians using the pavements, to take extra care during the cold snap."
Transport for London is responsible for many of the major roads and footpaths in Islington. These include most of the main shopping areas, and many of the Tube and Rail stations.
Islington Council is responsible for the other roads and footpaths.
After main roads, priority is given to gritting areas around hospitals, fire stations, ambulance stations and to at least one access from the main road network to all communities.
