Islington libraries will be celebrating the 10th annual World Book Day on Thursday 1 March.<br><br>In the past decade, World Book Day has become firmly established as the biggest annual event promoting enjoyment of books and reading. This year's theme is families and children.<br><br>As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, Islington libraries will have three promotions in every library:<br><br>- Best paperbacks of 2006 - a collection of the very best in reading published last year<br>- Quick reads - a collection of titles published for those who have lost or are yet to develop the habit of reading<br>- Got kids, get reading - a collection of books to read to children.<br><br>Libraries will also be putting on a range of events on World Book Day, and councillors will be dropping in to read stories.<br><br>Cllr George Allan, Islington Council's Executive Member for Customer Focus, will visit John Barnes Library to join in with the under-3s story time. He said: "It's always a pleasure to visit Islington's libraries, especially to see children enjoying a good story.
