Islington Council wants to find out what local residents think about possible ways forward for the future of Ashmount School in Hornsey.
All residents in the area are being consulted between 6 December 2006 and 31 January 2007. They will receive a leaflet explaining the options for Ashmount School and they will be asked to complete a questionnaire to let the council know their views. Residents can also come to one of three exhibitions on the proposals, which are taking place in January.
Cllr Ursula Woolley, Islington Council's Executive Member for Children and Young People, explained: 'Ashmount Primary School is almost 50 years old and we know that it's not suitable for the high quality education we want all Islington children to have in the future.
"The council is considering whether to refurbish the existing school, rebuild it in the same place or build a new school where the recreation centre used to be in Crouch Hill. Of course, our plans for the school and Crouch Hill have an impact on the local community, which is why we're asking residents for their views."
The leaflet and questionnaire can be downloaded from www.islington.gov.uk/Consultation/currentconsultations. Consultation will take place until the end of January. Residents' views will then be presented to councillors who will reach a decision on the best way forward by Easter 2007.
