Over the next few weeks Islington Council will publish details of a consultation on options for the future of Ashmount School and the site of the former Crouch Hill Recreation Centre.
Cllr Ursula Woolley, Islington Council's Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: "The current school buildings at Ashmount School are not suitable for the high quality education I want all Islington children to have in the future.
"One of the options we are considering is to build a new school on open land at Crouch Hill, alongside the redevelopment of existing facilities there - subject to agreement by the Greater London Authority (GLA). A second option is to rebuild or refurbish the school buildings on their current site.
"Improvements to Ashmount School and Crouch Hill will have an impact on the local community, which is why I am asking residents for their views."
The consultation will run until the end of January and the council will make a decision about the best plan for the community by Easter.
