Scary stories and spooky fun - unique Halloween celebration in Archway

Date: 23-Oct-06 by charles dean

Halloween celebrations for families with children of all ages are taking place at Dartmouth Park, N19 on October 31 2006.

Friends of Dartmouth Park have put together an evening of spooks and chills in the confines of the open space off Dartmouth Park Hill that gives parents an alternative to door-to-door "trick or treating".

Extraordinary views over the London skyline will provide the backdrop for a parade of Halloween costumes while profesional storyteller Polly Howat will be telling spine-chilling tales inside an atmospheric Kåta Tipi or wig wam.

There will be a prize for the best Halloween dress plus traditional games and refreshments. Ghostly lighting and sound effects will be provided by local company Gray Audio Visual.

Friends of Dartmouth Park Treasurer Richard Ault of Bickerton Road N19 said: "The Friends group has been going since the start of the year - this is the second event we've received council support for.

We'd like the Halloween event to raise the profile of our ambitions to improve the park play area and create a sensory garden for disabled kids."
