Around 1,000 children aged four to 12 took on a mission to read their way through the summer holidays in a Summer Reading Challenge run by Islington Council's libraries.
The libraries challenged children to read six or more books of their own choice during the holidays, and around 300 children managed to complete the mission to qualify as Special Reading Agents.
Each library will be having an award ceremony for the children who completed the mission, where they will receive 'Mission Accomplished' medals and certificates. The libraries also have £50 worth of HMV vouchers each to hand out, and one lucky Special Reading Agent drawn from all those who completed the mission in Islington will get a PlayStation Karaoke game.
Cllr George Allan, Executive Member for Customer Focus, said: "The Summer Reading Challenge was an excellent way to get children reading books over the summer holidays. We hope to see lots of them back borrowing lots of books all year round."
