ISLINGTON ENCOURAGES PARENTS TO 'JUST ASK' FOR ADVICE

Date: 13-Sep-06 by verity cork

For many people, bringing up a family can be a challenging task and often people don't have someone that they can go to for guidance - an issue Islington Council's Just Ask campaign is trying to address.

The Just Ask campaign is run with Parentline, a national advice service for parents that encourages people to ask for advice and aims to remove the stigma attached with asking for help.

Councillor Ursula Woolley, Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: "I will happily admit that being a parent is one of the hardest things I've had to do and unfortunately a child doesn't come with an instruction manual. Looking for advice about bringing up a child is a wise and normal thing for people to do."
