Looking to the future of Lambs Passage

Date: 11-Jul-06 by nicola quinn

Islington Council is asking local people what future development they'd like to see at Lambs Passage, EC1.

The results of the consultation will help shape any future redevelopment of the site by giving detailed planning and design advice through a development brief.

From Wednesday 12 July to Tuesday 1 August the council is asking people what they think of these ideas. These are not design proposals they are initial ideas put forward for discussion.

¨ a new two-storey block with approximately 9 live/work units on the west side, and on the first floor of the Whitbread Centre
¨ a new four-storey block with approximately 9 flats above retail on the north side, replacing works building
¨ a preferably car-free open space (option 1: car-free, except disabled parking provision; option 2: continuing provision of residents' car parking on south side of the open land)

Councillor Lucy Watt, executive member for environment explained: "It's important that any redevelopment is right for the area and that it is what local people want. We've put forward a few ideas and we want to know what you think before we finalise the advice for future developers. Nothing has been decided so now is your chance to tell us what you'd like to see happen."
