All the family can take part in a host of free sports and fitness activities at Highbury Fields on Saturday 15 July from 10am to 3pm, at Islington's first Health and Sport Festival.
Cllr George Allan, executive member for customer focus, said: "Exercise is good for everyone, and our first Health and Sport Festival gives everyone the opportunity to try a range of activities. You could have a health check, take a salsa class or play football, it's up to you. Come along you'll be spoilt for choice."
The festival, which aims to increase participation in physical activity in the borough, will showcase a broad range of local clubs and activities for people of all ages. Activities include a history walk, health checks, Tai Chi, line dancing, salsa, street dance and "Doctor Bike" sessions. People can take part in basketball, netball, tennis and football.
The daylong celebration features the Everyday Sport Walking Challenge, with the first 50 participants receiving a free stepometer, with other prizes on offer. A mobile climbing wall, bouncy castle and human table football will also make the day a fun, family affair.
The Health and Sport Festival is organised by Proactive, a partnership between Islington Council, Islington PCT, IVAC, Aquaterra Leisure, CEA, Sport England and community groups Islington Chinese Association, Islington Panthers Basketball Club, Soccerscool, Islington City Tennis Club, London Heathside ATL, Islington Cricket Club, Senzana Dance School, Volunteer Walks Leaders.
There is no need to book, just turn up on the day. For full details of all the activities on offer, contact Karen Smith on 020 7527 2615. Or log onto www.islington.gov.uk
