Islington Council

Another chance to shape the future of Archway

Date: 13-Jun-06 by nicola quinn

The views of local residents and traders are currently being targeted in the latest in a series of consultation events that will help form the Archway Development Framework.

From 12 June to 24 July local residents will be able to comment on the draft options (developed on behalf of the council by consultants Building Design Planning), and from 17 June they will be able to view the options at a variety of venues in the area.

Saturday 17 June Archway Market 10am - 4pm
Friday 23 June Hargrave Park School Summer Fair, 2pm - 4:30pm
Saturday 24 June Archway Swimming Pool 10am - 1pm
Saturday 1 July Caxton House 129 St Johns Way 10am - 4pm

Councillor Lucy Watt, executive member for environment said: "This is a real opportunity to have input into the framework for the improvement of Archway. Nothing has been decided yet, so now is the time to tell us what you think of the draft options being put forward. Together we can develop a vision for the area that best meets the needs of the community while being commercially viable and achievable."

The framework will set out the future plans for Archway and the design principles to underpin the redevelopment. The community and other key stakeholders are being invited to have input into the process. This latest round of consultations with traders and residents follows a public event held in November last year which was attended by around 300 residents and other interested parties.

The consultation events are being run by the multi-disciplinary team appointed by Islington Council to work on the Archway Development Framework. The consultant team includes MVA and Donaldsons and is being led by Building Design Partnership (BDP).

The final decision on which of the options will be taken forward and be adopted will be made this September at the South Area Planning Committee.
