Thanks to an Islington Council recycling scheme Holloway Prison is recycling around three tonnes of materials every week.
Every year the prison will recycle about 60% of its waste, that's 150 tonnes of material or 20 trucks of rubbish being diverted from landfill.
Councillor Lucy Watt, executive member for environment said: "We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone in Islington to recycle. Alongside our day to day collections schemes like this are proving a success as we are continuing to see our recycling rate rise. Islington is now recycling over 20% of it's waste.

Tony Hassell, Governor of Holloway Prison said: "Recycling at Holloway has been a great success and there has been a whole prison approach to recycling. We could not have done this without the help of Islington Council."
