Adult Learners Week is back! And Islington Council is in full swing planning the week's activities, which will run from Monday 20 to the Friday 26 of May.
Why not come along to one of events being held at three locations in the borough:
On Saturday the 20 there will be a stall at City and Islington College's popular Family Fun Day and Health Fair, so as well as trying out a few courses in the many taster sessions and treatments available you can have a chat with one of the council's Adult and Community Learning Team to see what courses might be right for you.
The Islington Online Computer Bus will be out and about on Monday the 22 and Tuesday the 23. On Monday it will be on St Johns Grove (N19) in Archway and on Tuesday on Upper Street (N1) in front of Starbucks. Here you can meet a tutor and try out the Internet or even send an email -- all for free!
Wednesday the 24 sees the opening celebrations of a brand new learning centre at Finsbury Park. The Finsbury Park Learning Zone opened it doors in January and will be officially opened by Islington's Mayor on the 24 of May 2006. The centre is located in the IAMS School on Turle Road, N4 and is already making an impact in Finsbury Park with nearly 200 enrolled learners so far.
If you are more of a shopper, you can come and meet the council's Adult and Community Learning Team at Nags Head Shopping Centre on the 25 of May, or at Chapel Market on the 26 of May. Drop in, pickup a goody bag and if you register your interest for a course you will go into the draw to win a brand new computer!
Adult Learners Week is a great time to think about starting a new course or learning some new skills. Islington Council has a network of over 20 online centres where you can try introductory courses in Internet, email or word processing or you can enrol in many accredited courses such as the European Computer Driving licence and CLAIT at levels 1 & 2, all for free. If you want to find out more about the courses on offer then contact Islington Council on 020 7527 5782.
