A touch of France comes to Chapel Market

Date: 20-Feb-06 by nicola quinn

Are you sick of winter in London? Craving a mini-break on the Continent? The next best thing could be a trip to Chapel Market (Angel, N1) when it hosts a French Market on Sunday 5 March, 2006.

Just like on a trip to France, you’ll be able to buy cheeses, Saucisson (dry meat), garlic, olives, jams, mustards, pastries, crepes, biscuits, Belgian chocolate and other food stuffs, as well as soap, wooden flowers, jewellery, leather goods, perfume and cosmetics.

Councillor George Allan, executive member for customer focus said: “French markets are becoming increasingly popular across the UK and it’s great that we are hosting this market in Islington. The market should prove an exciting draw for Sunday trading at Chapel Market and the Angel in general. I know I’ll be taking trip to the market!”

Glenn Dudley, who helped organsie the French Market said: “We are looking forward to
bringing the flavours of France to multicultural Islington. If it proves popular, we would be keen to repeat the market in the future.”

The market is being run by a traders’ cooperative made up of traders from all over France.
