Art inspires healthy lifestyles for kids

*******PHOTO OPPORTUNITY*******<br><br>What: Take Part art competition presentation ceremony<br>When: Wednesday 9 November 2005<br>Time: 6-8pm with the prize giving at 6.30pm<br>Where: Arsenal Conference Centre, Avenell Rd, N5<br><br>You are invited to send a photographer and/or a journalist. <br><br>Inspiring exercise through art – prize giving ceremony<br><br>The Take Part art competition, the Islington-wide competition to inspire local people to participate in healthy exercise, will hold its presentation ceremony on Wednesday 9 November.<br><br>Organised by Whittington Hospital and supported by Islington Council, Arsenal Football Club and Aquaterra Leisure, the competition aimed to heighten awareness of the variety of forms of exercise available to, and practiced by, the diverse community of Islington.<br><br>As well as being open to school students, Take Part invited entries from adults (17 years and over). Prizes will be presented for the following categories:<br>· Year groups 3 and 4<br>· Year groups 5 and 6<br>· Year groups 7 and 8<br>· Year groups 9, 10 and 11<br>· Group project year groups 3 to 6<br>· Adult photography<br>· Adult painting and collage<br><br>Between five to 10 short listed entries for each category will attend the ceremony with the winners being announced on the night.<br><br>Arsenal Football Club, Islington Council and Aquaterra Leisure have donated prizes and gifts for the Take PART competition. <br><br>The adult winning artists will receive a one year platinum membership card to the Aquaterra Sports Centres in Islington, providing free access to swimming pools, gyms and saunas. <br><br>The four winning artists aged 16 and under will receive a free one-year pass to the Aquaterra swimming pools and admission to an Arsenal home game on Saturday 14 January 2006 at which there will be a pitch-side presentation of a certificate. <br><br>The winning group project will receive a free football coaching session at the O2 Sports Centre at Arsenal Football Club. <br><br>Judges are Andrew Smith (Whittington Art Co-ordinater), Guy Beggs (art and design lecturer at London Metropolitan University), Paula Bendall (local architect and art lover) and Phil Starling (local professional photographer).<br><br>All adult entrants received a free pass to an Aquaterra Leisure Centre for a gym, swim and sauna session. All entrants aged 16 years and under received a free pass for a swim session at an Aquaterra Leisure Centre.<br><br>ENDS
