Being your own boss is the dream for many entrepreneurs and through a new business initiative in November, Islington Council is helping make the borough the place to realise this goal.<br><br>Islington Enterprise Week ’05 brings together a variety of local organisations that, as part of their own core business, work to support and develop businesses.<br><br>Islington Council recognises that behind every strong new business idea there are excellent local organisations that are perfectly placed to assist with a business’s development.<br><br>Executive member for communities, Councillor Laura Willoughby, said: “The week provides an ideal opportunity for anyone in business or thinking about starting a business to find out about and meet the incredible array of support services there are in Islington.”<br><br>IEW ’05 is free and open to anyone interested in starting a new enterprise or expanding a current business. <br><br>Organisations including Islington Enterprise Agency, Prevista, City and Islington College, InBiz, and Islington Chamber of Commerce are among the wealth of resources that entrepreneurs will have access to during IEW ’05.<br><br>“Islington prides itself as an area which actively encourages, supports, develops and promotes an entrepreneurial business culture,” Cllr Willoughby said.<br><br>“Whether an enterprise is run by individuals, community groups or an existing business starting a new division, Islington has a specialist service provider who can ensure the entrepreneur can move smartly through the various stages of starting up and establishing themselves as an ongoing thriving business.”<br><br>Islington Council’s seminar on Thursday 17 November will include presentations by the Arsenal business enterprise team (ABET) and the business partnership team.<br><br>ABET was formed to ensure local people, companies and, community groups derived economic benefit from all the Arsenal developments while the business partnership team assists the business community on their obligations under public protection legislation.<br><br>Other council officers will also be giving presentations, for example on health and safety, and will be available to answer ‘open’ and ‘individual’ questions for participants.<br><br>To take advantage of the free opportunities and events in IEW’05’s either turn up to an open day event or register with the specific presenters for a workshop by telephoning 020 7527 3465 or email enterpriseweek@islington.gov.uk <br> <br>The Islington Enterprise Week (IEW’05) schedule is:<br> <br>Monday 14 November – Breakfast Launch<br>· InBiz (Open Day & Self Employment Workshop) <br>· London Metropolitan University (Workshop) <br> <br>Tuesday 15 November<br>· Prevista (Open Day & Workshop) <br>· City and Islington College (Open Evening) <br> <br>Wednesday 16 November<br>· Young Enterprise Master Class (Workshop) <br>· Islington Enterprise Agency (Workshop) <br>· InBiz (Open Day & Self Employment Workshop) <br> <br>Thursday 17 November<br>· London Borough Islington (Seminar) <br>· Islington Chamber of Commerce (Open Lunch) <br> <br>Friday 18 November – Afternoon Review<br>· InBiz (Open Day and Self Employment Workshop) <br>· FinFuture/Finsbury Park Business Forum (Seminar & Exhibition)
