Residents joined forces with Islington Council and environmental charity Groundwork to help spruce up a patch of woodland plagued by litter and graffiti.<br><br>The Friends of Whittington Park Residents Group identified the 'grot spot' to the council after being asked to nominate the zones most in need of a facelift.<br><br>Saturday 22 October, saw volunteers work with Groundwork to clear litter, prune shrubs and plant new trees and bushes.<br><br>Cllr Bridget Fox, executive member for sustainability said: <br><br>"We are delighted to Groundwork on tackling the borough's grot sopts and in doing so, returning some forgotten corners of the borough to public use.<br><br>Holloway Road is the borough's major thoroughfare used by thousands of people every day, so where better place to start making a difference?"<br><br>ENDS
