Tennis courts to hot up this winter with free tennis for all

****PHOTO OPPORTUNITY****PHOTO OPPORTUNITY****PHOTO OPPORTUNITY****<br><br>Islington's future tennis champions are getting a boost following the launch of free tennis on the borough’s courts from this November.<br><br>The normal cost for an hour’s tennis is £7.60 an hour for adults or £3.80 for children, but residents will be able to play tennis for free from 1 November until 31 March from 8am until 4pm. <br><br>The offer will apply to 11 tennis courts including Highbury Fields, Tufnell Park, Rosemary Gardens and Spa Fields. No booking will be required during these times.<br><br>Islington is the thirteenth London borough and the first of its surrounding boroughs (Hackney, Haringey, Camden and the City of London) to offer free tennis.<br><br>Councillor Laura Willoughby, Executive member for communities said: “Islington is proud to be one of the first north London boroughs to offer free tennis as part of our promotion of sport. <br><br>We've got loads of sporting activities planned in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics, and to help us all to lead healthier lifestyles. <br><br>Tennis is good fun and keeps you fit so I hope many residents will take this opportunity to take up tennis for free.”<br><br>At the launch, Islington Mayor Jonathan Dearth will play tennis against Robert Achille, Islington Council’s Tennis Development Officer.
