*******PHOTO OPPORTUNITY*******<br><br>What: Black History Month Fun Day and Showcase<br>When: Saturday 15 October<br>Time: Fun Day (11am-3pm)<br>Showcase (5pm-7pm)<br>Where: Highbury Grove School, N5 2EG<br><br>You are invited to send a photographer and/or a journalist. <br><br>Black History Month Fun Day and Showcase<br><br>October is Black History Month and Islington Council is involved with promoting the history and culture of black people in Islington.<br><br>Two free community events will be held on Saturday 15 October at Highbury Grove School as part of the celebrations.<br><br>Fun Day – 11am-3pm<br>A fantastic afternoon’s entertainment featuring a DJ, African drummers, bouncy castle, beat the goalie, fashion show, creative writing competition, African art, steel band, face painting, food, rap poetry and Islington museum display<br><br>Showcase – 5pm-7pm<br>An evening of top entertainment including:<br>· Poetry by Parm Kaur and Sola Adebiyi <br>· Gospel and R&B singer Adelaide McKenzie who has recently been tipped by Choice FM as one of the hottest acts to listen out for in 2005<br>· Oojami – fuses Turkish elements with a myriad of cultural tradition, providing a whirling dervish cyclone of sound with an uncompromising attitude towards musical freedom.
